Lois B. House, 80, of Sumner, died Thursday, August 14, 2014, at the Hillcrest Home in Sumner.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner with Rev. William Runaas, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Church Cemetery in Sumner. Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17th at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be made in her name to St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner.
Lois Lorraine Bergman, daughter of Herbert and Bertha Moore Bergman, was born November 22, 1933, in rural Bremer County, Iowa. She was baptized December 10, 1933 by Rev. Ide and confirmed March 30, 1947, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church-Richfield. Lois received her education in the country schools and later graduated from Sumner High School. On March 31, 1957, she was united in marriage with William B. House in the WAC Chapel at Ft. McClellan, Alabama. Lois had worked at Heyer Lumber, First National Bank, and the Hillcrest Home, all in Sumner. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, sudoku, and reading.
In addition to her husband, Bill of Sumner, Lois is survived by three sons, Jeffrey House of Monona, Joel (Marie) House of Frederick, Maryland, and Jamie (Doris) House of Chugiak, Alaska; eight grandchildren, Nathan, Steven, Joshua, Brady, Emily, Natalie, Lucia, and Thomas House; and one great granddaughter, Natalie House.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents.
